Project Name: Flywheel Energy Storage Application Verification and Demonstration Project at Guangyangcheng Station, Beijing Metro Fangshan Line
Basic parameters: Rated power 1MW, energy storage capacity 11kWh, 1ms response time, full power output within 5ms, floor area 4.95㎡. It marks China's first application of flywheel energy storage technology in urban rail transit regenerative braking energy recovery.
Supported by core technologies of multi-layer composite rotor and magnetic levitation bearing, the flywheel runs at a maximum speed of 36,000 revolutions per minute with peripheral speed close to the speed of sound. Energy storage and release are realized through mutual conversion between electric and kinetic energy. The system absorbs energy to accelerate the flywheel during train braking, and discharges energy to slow down the flywheel upon departure, achieving efficient electric energy recovery.
It delivers remarkable energy-saving effects and outstanding technical strengths. Annual power saving reaches about 500,000 kWh, cutting electricity costs by over 400,000 yuan. It also reduces heat emission and optimizes power supply quality. Featuring millisecond-level response and a service life of over ten million cycles, the system adapts well to frequent start-stop operating conditions of metro trains.
